The ingredients used are known to be anti-bacterial and anti-microbial, mildly abrasive (for removing plaque, whitening and cleaning), and anti-inflammatory, improving gum health.
The mildly abrasive nature of charcoal and baking soda make this toothpaste effective for whitening, but also are the reason this paste should be used in moderation and mindfully. Advised use is every other day (3-4 x per week), and with gentle brush strokes.

The lauric acid found in coconut oil attacks harmful bacteria in the mouth that can cause bad breath, tooth decay and gum disease.
